Constitution & Club Rules
Aims and Objectives
East Leeds Lions Motorcycle Club (ELL) was formed in 1998. It aims to protect, improve and encourage the interests of motorcycling within West Yorkshire.
ELLMCC endeavours to meet the requirements of all members, irrespective of the make, size or type of motorcycle they own. It will organise a yearly rally (with the help of its members), club runs, ride outs to rallies and events throughout the year.
Committee
ELLMCC shall comprise the following committee posts;

- The management of the club shall be the duty of the committee. Sub-committees may be formed to undertake specific tasks as deemed necessary by the committee.
- The committee shall comprise as many members as is deemed necessary to maintain and fulfil the needs of the club and its members.
- A report and balance sheet of expenditure and fund raising will be presented at the Annual General Meeting, which can be viewed by any fully paid up member of the club.
- The committee will have the responsibility of filling any committee positions (on a temporary basis) which become vacant during the year until the following AGM.
- The Club will continue to remain in existence and abide by the constitution and club rules, while ever there is a minimum of six paying members.
Rules
- The club shall be known as “East Leeds Lions Motorcycle Club” (ELLMCC).
- The club shall consist of persons who are considered eligible under the club rules.
- All members, who have filled in the membership form, read and understood the ELLMCC club rules endorse their acceptance of the club rules, claiming ignorance of them WILL NOT be accepted as an excuse for any breach thereof.
- The committee shall upon request provide clarification on the meaning of any club rules.
- The committee may do whatsoever they deem necessary for the well being of the club provided it is not inconsistent with these rules. The decision of the committee shall be final in all matters.
- The Chairperson has the final decision on any split decision or vote.
Membership
- Any person wishing to join the club will complete the member application form and submit it, with the required subscription, to the membership secretary. The committee reserve the right to accept or reject any application.
- All applicants must read through the club rules before filling in the application form to join the club. Signing the application form constitutes that they accept all the rules and will abide by them. The club constitution and club rules will be available to view at any club meeting on request.
- All accepted members will receive a membership card and number as proof of membership, BMF and MAG affiliation cards may be given at a later date.
- The annual subscription will be fixed in approximately November for the following year; renewal of membership subscriptions will be available from the beginning of December.
- The club year is from 1st January till 31st December. New members will be charged on a rolling scale according to the month in which they join (Year divided by 12). Renewals will be charged at the full yearly fee regardless of which month the renewal is paid. The subscription does not include any club regalia or badges, these have to be bought separately from the Clothing Rep. All clothing/regalia must be paid for in full before receiving the item.
- The minimum age for joining the club is set at 18 (eighteen), members may be accepted below the age of 18 but only if they currently ride a motorcycle and they are related to a full adult member of the club, this adult will be responsible for the member and will be responsible for making sure they abide by the club rules as any other adult member. Members below the age of 16 will be known as Cubs and must be supervised by an adult member at all times.
- Adults are responsible for their own children at all times and underage drinking is not permitted at any club event. Any breach of this then the parent will be responsible and disciplinary action may be taken against the club member.
- Members may be accepted below the age of 18 if they ride scooters/mopeds etc but must behave in a responsible manner and will have to abide by the same rules as any other full paid member.
- Every member duly elected is bound to abide by the club rules, and any modification thereof notified to them in writing, made in conformity with such rules.
- In the event of a breach of rules by any member, or conduct on the part of a member rendering it desirable that the member should cease to be a member, a meeting of the current committee shall be convened at the earliest time to inquire as to whether a reason for expulsion has occurred or not. In the event of any member being, in the opinion of the committee, in breach of club rules or guilty of conduct undesirable to the well being of the club they will be required to present themselves to a committee hearing.
- In the case of an incident described in section 10, if the member called before the committee and failing satisfactory explanation, be cautioned or suspended or in the most severe of cases required to resign their membership of the club. The member may put their case to the members of the club. They will be allowed to do so at the next club meeting, where they will be given the opportunity to defend themselves to the members. If the members believe a satisfactory explanation is given then the severity of the breach can be reduced, if the decision is upheld the member will be required to leave the club immediately. NO REFUND of subscription will be offered on expulsion.
- Members who resign from the club for any reason will not receive any reimbursement of any subscription if they leave mid year also they will immediately have their access to the members forum withdrawn.
Riding Rules
- Club ride outs or when riding in a group should be done in an organised manner. Participants whilst out on the road should conduct themselves in a safe and proper manner. Participants will adhere to the current road traffic legislation set out in the Highway Code.
- Bikes and riders must be legal whenever out in a club organised group.
- It is recommended but not compulsory, that all members take out breakdown recovery, although the club does posses a bike trailer for the sole use of club members, we can not be relying on someone sitting at home waiting for that call just to come rescue a member.
Meetings
- The Club will hold a members meeting every Monday throughout the year at a venue advised at the AGM.
- The Chairperson or allotted member will address the club to advise the members of matters relating to the running of the club, the respective Secretaries will be asked to voice their respective matters to the club in turn.
- Towards the end of the meeting the chair will ask of the members if they have any concerns or suggestions regarding the club (this is your chance as members to speak your mind).
- The final input is ‘AOB’ “Any Other Business” this is for any other input that you as members think the club should be informed of, however trivial it may seem. If you have something to tell the other members please do so.
Forum rules
- Posts are to be made in the relevant forum. Users are asked to read the forum descriptions before posting. Users consistently posting to the wrong forum may be given a warning.
- Members should post in a way that is respectful of other users. Spamming or abusing users in any way will not be tolerated and will lead to a warning.
- Members are asked to not act as "back seat moderators". If members note an issue with a posting on the forum they are welcome to bring it to the attention of a Moderator or the Administration team.
Do not respond to such topics yourself.
- Members should remember the open forum sections are aimed at a general audience and can be viewed by anyone. Posting pornographic, racist or generally offensive text, images, links, etc. will not be tolerated and will lead to both a warning and possible ban from the forum.
- The moderators and Admin team reserve the right to edit or remove any post at any time. The determination of what is construed as indecent, vulgar, spam, etc. as noted in these points is up to committee members and not users.
- The above forum rules where applicable also apply to private messaging. Abuse of the private messaging system may lead to warnings (as above) and/or the revocation of private messaging.
AGM
- The Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held at the first available Monday meeting in January each year. All members who have rejoined or new members who have joined in the month prior to the AGM will be allowed to vote. Nomination forms for the new years committee members will be available during the month of December, you must be a fully paid up member before the AGM to apply for a position.
- Any proposals which you believe should be put to the vote at the AGM should be given to the Chairperson by the meeting previous to the AGM.
- NO renewals or new memberships will be taken on the night of the AGM.
- Non members will be required to sit in the other room whilst this meeting takes place, once the main meeting has taken place they will be allowed to return to the room.
- The committee can call a Special General Meeting (SGA) at any time or upon the request of at least Ten Members, the SGA will be held within 21 days of the request.
Finance
- All funds will be banked in the name of “East Leeds Lions MCC”.
- All expenditure must be approved by a main committee member, (i.e. Chairperson, Treasurer or Secretary).
- Reports of our financial status will be read out to the members at lest four times a year, but can be viewed by anyone at any meeting by seeing the treasurer.
